چکیده

Given a transmitter that radiates an electromagnetic light field, we assume that the resulting field at the plane of the receiver aperture is log-normal with some coherence properties. Various representations of the field a r e discussed: aperture sampling, plane-wave decomposition, and Karhunen-Logve expansion. The statistical properties of the coefficients in these representations a r e investigated by analytical, simulation, and experimental methods. Based on these representations the problem of optimum detection of an orthogonal signal set , subject to distortion and noise in the atmosphere, is investigated. The optimum receiver and its performance a r e evaluated and discussed in the cases of log-normal and Gaussian statistics, classical and quantum models, large and small apertures, and strong, weak o r absent background noise.

Modeling of RF Waves in Free Space Optical Communication System Under Gamma-Gamma Turbulent Channel Effect

In this paper, an enhancement design of communication system using optical radio frequency (RF) waves in free space optical communication (FSO) system is presented. To our knowledge, it is the first time that the effect of Gamma-Gamma turbulent channel model on the performance of the proposed system is analyzed and simulated. To obtain an optical communication system with good performance and h...

Impacts of the Negative-exponential and the K-distribution modeled FSO turbulent links on the theoretical and simulated performance of the distributed diffusion networks

Merging the adaptive networks with the free space optical (FSO) communication technology is a very interesting field of research because by adding the benefits of this technology, the adaptive networks become more efficient, cheap and secure. This is due to the fact that FSO communication uses unregistered visible light bandwidth instead of the overused radio spectrum. However, in spite of all ...

Paper Laser Beam Attenuation Determined by the Method of Available Optical Power in Turbulent Atmosphere

This work is focused on the atmospheric turbulence effect and a new method for determining optical signal attenuation caused by turbulence is presented here. A new method of power budget of optical links comes from optical intensity distribution in a laser beam after the beam passed through turbulent atmosphere. Results given by this method are compared with Rytov approximation which is nowaday...

Beam wander relieved orbital angular momentum communication in turbulent atmosphere using Bessel beams

Optical beam wander is one of the most important issues for free-space optical (FSO) communication. We theoretically derive a beam wander model for Bessel beams propagating in turbulent atmosphere. The calculated beam wander of high order Bessel beams with different turbulence strengths are consistent with experimental measurements. Both theoretical and experimental results reveal that high ord...

Propagation of Partially Coherent Beam in Turbulent Atmosphere: A Review

Partially coherent beam is preferred in many applications, such as free-space optical communications, remote sensing, active laser radar systems, etc., due to its resistance to the deleterious effects of atmospheric turbulence. In this paper, after presenting a historical overview on propagation of optical beams in turbulent atmosphere, we describe the basic theory for treating the propagation ...
